Suwannee Sarakana

During my visits to the United States, especially in Portland, Oregon, I often use homes as my subject.  I use the natural outdoor light, sometimes in the full glare of a midday sun, other times using the softer morning or late afternoon light to create peaceful and unabashedly idyllic scenes.  The wood and stone of the homes must express the human life of the home owners.  It is a challenge to do this, usually without the inclusion of human figures in the paintings.
